Kamloops Symphony – Carmina Burana
Carmina Burana plunges us into the carnal excess of medieval ritual and vice. The enormous orchestra and choir, beguiling cast of soloists, and fascinating mix of comedy and tragedy, make this one of the most enduringly popular works of the 20th century. Les Étourneaux(starlings) by Nelson BC composer Keiko Devaux evokes the immense landscapes and crystalline air of the BC Interior, while Montreal composer Maxime Goulet’s “theatrical” concerto for clarinet completes the program.
